Being a Strategist for Computing Honor Society is a workload that requires proper competency in order to enter. While general membership is open to everyone in Upper Division, being a Strategist requires being accepted after passing the Alterna CHS Strategist Exam (ACSE) and an Impromptu Interview.
The ACSE is designed to test leadership, not content memorization. It is also designed to be a test that you do not have to study for. It is a proctored, 55-minute, paper-based exam with a 5 minute break between sections. It is scored from 100 to 900, with a strong pass being a 700 and a standard pass being a 650.
The Impromptu Interview is designed as a chat to assess your leadership skills through dialogue and conversation.
There are three types of Strategists that work in Computing Honor Society: the Academic & Training Strategist, the Competition Strategist, and the Community Strategist.
The Academic & Training Strategist focuses on being exceptional at specific skills and training fellow members in those skills through not just lectures, but through hands-on labs and interactive activities.
The Competition Strategist focuses on maintaining discipline and preparation for competitions, and actively seek for contests to register and prepare for that CHS can represent Academy at the Lakes in. View them as a coach.
The Community Strategist focuses on protecting and improving members' well-being, ensuring their inputs are heard, and focuses on contribution not just to the members of CHS, but to the whole Academy at the Lakes community.
